Because the housing is free-hanging (in-line), the wire harness routes directly to the mating board-mounted header without a secondary shell or backshell. The crimp termination allows field-replaceable contacts — if a terminal pulls out or frets, you re-crimp and reinsert rather than scrapping the whole harness.
You must order the matching DF11 female socket crimp terminal (e.g., Hirose DF11-*SC or DF11-*PC series, depending on wire gauge) and crimp it onto your wire before insertion.
