40-Position Board-to-Board Receptacle for Tight Stack Heights
The Hirose DF12-40DS-0.5V(86) is a 40-position dual-row receptacle with center strip contacts on a 0.020" (0.50mm) pitch — a fine-pitch board-to-board interconnect for space-constrained mezzanine stacking. The 0.106" (2.70mm) height above board keeps the profile low, and the connector supports three mated stacking heights: 3.5mm, 4mm, and 5mm, giving the board layout engineer flexibility to match the z-height budget across different PCB spacings in the same assembly.
Board Layout and Routing Fit
Surface-mount termination means no through-holes to block inner-layer routing under the connector.
Mating and Stack Height Options
This receptacle mates with the matching DF12 series header (male pin side) to achieve one of three stack heights: 3.5mm, 4mm, or 5mm. The stack height is determined by the header variant selected — confirm the header's height specification against the required board-to-board spacing. The center strip contact arrangement is specific to the DF12 series; the mating half must be from the same series and position count.
