36-Position Mezzanine Header for Tight Stack Heights
The Hirose DF12D(3.5)-36DP-0.5V(81) is a 36-position, dual-row header from the DF12 series, designed for board-to-board mezzanine stacking with a fixed mated height of 3.5mm. The 0.50mm pitch packs 36 circuits into a compact footprint, typical for space-constrained portable electronics, handheld instruments, and internal module interconnects where the board gap is tight.
At 0.50mm pitch, the breakout traces between pads are narrow — expect to use controlled impedance stack-ups and via-in-pad if routing all 36 signals on a single layer. The 3.5mm mated stack height is the fixed board-to-board spacing; the header itself sits 2.80mm above the board surface, so the mating receptacle accounts for the remaining 0.7mm.
Obsolete — Sourcing Reality
This DF12 header is marked obsolete by Hirose. If the design can tolerate a parametric alternative, the DF12 series includes other stack heights and position counts at the same 0.50mm pitch, but no direct pin-compatible drop-in is documented.
