The Hirose DF12NC(5.0)-50DP-0.5V(51) is a 50-position header from the DF12 series, designed as a board-to-board mezzanine connector. It uses a 0.50mm pitch and a 5mm mated stack height, which means it sits between two parallel PCBs with exactly that clearance — no guessing the z-height budget.
Board layout and assembly notes
This is a surface-mount part with solder retention features — those little tabs on the sides hold the connector flat against the board during reflow so it doesn't shift or tombstone. For a 0.50mm pitch part, pad geometry and solder paste volume are critical; the standard recommendation is a NSMD (non-solder-mask-defined) pad with a 0.25mm aperture. The dual-row layout with 50 positions means the connector spans about 12.5mm along the board edge, leaving room for routing two traces between pads on outer layers if the board fab can hold 0.10mm lines and spaces.
The DF12NC(5.0) family covers 40, 50, and 60 positions at the same 0.50mm pitch and 5mm stack height. The 50-position version here splits the difference: the DF12NC(5.0)-40DP-0.5V(51) gives you 40 circuits for a narrower bus, while the DF12NC(5.0)-60DP-0.5V(51) adds 10 more positions for a wider interconnect.
