The Hirose DF17(4.0)-30DS-0.5V(57) is a 30-position, dual-row receptacle with center strip contacts, part of the DF17 series designed for parallel board-to-board stacking. At a 0.50mm pitch, it packs 30 signal paths into a compact footprint, with a mated stacking height that can be set to 6mm, 6.5mm, or 8mm depending on the mating header selected. The gold-plated contacts suit applications requiring moderate mating cycle life, typical in portable electronics, industrial control modules, and test fixtures where the board stack needs to be separated occasionally.
Trace escape from the inner rows requires either micro-vias or a via-in-pad strategy on the inner rows, especially if the board has more than two layers. The 4.50mm height above board is the receptacle's own profile; the total stack height comes from the mating header.
Stack Height Options — Matching the Mating Half
This receptacle supports three mated stacking heights: 6mm, 6.5mm, and 8mm. The actual height depends on which DF17 header is paired with it — the header's own height determines the final stack. For a 6mm stack, the header is shorter; for 8mm, taller. The board guide on the receptacle provides initial alignment during assembly, taking shear off the fine-pitch contacts.
