The Hirose DF23C-40DP-0.5V(92) is a 40-position plug with outer shroud contacts from the DF23 series, designed for board-to-board mezzanine connections where vertical space is at a premium.
0.50mm Pitch and 40 Positions
The 40 positions here are the full complement for this body size; the same DF23C series also offers a 20-position (DF23C-20DP-0.5V(92)) and a 30-position (DF23C-30DP-0.5V(92)) variant at the same 0.50mm pitch and 1.2mm height above board. The position count is the only functional difference between these three plugs — the footprint grows in length as positions increase, but the pitch, contact plating, and stack height are identical across the range.
This plug mates with the DF23C-40DS-0.5V(51) receptacle, which carries center strip contacts and sits 1.45mm above the board. When mated, the pair achieves a 1.5mm stack height — the combined height of both connectors plus the air gap. The outer shroud on the plug wraps around the receptacle's center strip contacts during mating, which protects the signal pins from damage during blind-mate assembly and provides a degree of EMI containment around the contact interface.
