0.40 mm pitch, 34 positions — the tight-pitch receptacle for dense board stacking
The Hirose DF37NC-34DS-0.4V(53) is a 34-position receptacle with center strip contacts on a 0.016" (0.40mm) pitch, part of the DF37 series. The 0.40 mm pitch forces tight routing on the PCB — the trace width and spacing between pads is the real constraint, not the contact itself.
Stack height and board clearance — 0.97 mm above board, 0.98 mm mated
The connector sits 0.038" (0.97mm) above the PCB, and the mated stacking height is 0.98 mm — nearly the same number. That tells you the receptacle barely protrudes past the solder fillet once mated to its header. The 0.40 mm pitch means the footprint pads are small — verify the solder paste stencil aperture against the Hirose recommended land pattern to avoid bridging between rows.
