Board-to-Board Fit: Pitch and Stack Height
The Hirose DF40C-34DS-0.4V(58) is a 34-position receptacle from the DF40 series, designed for parallel board-to-board stacking. The 0.016" (0.40mm) pitch and dual-row layout pack 34 circuits into a compact footprint, while the 0.057" (1.45mm) height above board and 1.5mm mated stacking heights define the z-axis clearance between stacked PCBs. This is a center strip contact receptacle — the contacts run down the middle of the body, not along the edges, which keeps the mating interface narrow and the board keep-out zone tight. Gold contact finish is standard on the mating surface, suited for the repeated mate cycles typical of modular board stacks in handheld or portable equipment.
Surface-mount termination — the DF40C receptacle reflows onto the top board and mates with the corresponding DF40 series header on the bottom board. The 1.5mm mated stacking heights is the total z-height between the two PCBs when mated; the receptacle's 0.057" (1.45mm) height above its own board leaves a small air gap. The center strip contact arrangement means the header's contacts are a matching blade array that slides into the receptacle's center slot. No crimp, no wire — this is a pure board-to-board interconnect for parallel stacking.
