Board-to-Board Plug for Dense Stacking
The Hirose DF40C-80DP-0.4V(51) is an 80-position plug with outer shroud contacts from the DF40 series, designed for board-to-board interconnects where space is tight. The gold-plated contacts (2.00µin thickness) on the mating interface keep contact resistance stable across repeated mate cycles, which matters when the board stack sees field service or rework.
Stack Height Flexibility
One feature that saves a BOM line: this single plug supports mated stacking heights of 1.5mm, 2mm, 2.5mm, 3mm, 3.5mm, and 4mm when paired with the matching DF40 receptacle. That means the same plug can serve across multiple board gap requirements in a product family — you change the receptacle height, not the plug. The height above board is a low 0.045" (1.14mm), keeping the overall stack thin enough for clamshell or slotted enclosures.
SMT Assembly with Solder Retention
Surface mount termination with solder retention features built into the package. On a dense 0.40mm pitch layout, those retention pads help keep the part aligned during reflow — less chance of the plug shifting or tombstoning on a board with heavy copper pours nearby. Tape & Reel packaging (Cut Tape also available) feeds standard pick-and-place lines without a feeder change.
Position Count Variants for Scaling
The DF40C series shares the same 0.016" (0.40mm) pitch, 1.14mm height above board, and gold contact finish across 70, 80, 90, and 100 position versions. The 80-position DF40C-80DP-0.4V(51) sits between the 70-position DF40C-70DP-0.4V(51) and the 90-position DF40C-90DP-0.4V(51), with a 100-position DF40C-100DP-0.4V(51) at the top end. If your board layout has room, stepping up or down in position count keeps the same footprint width — the length scales linearly with the extra contacts.
RoHS compliant. No official second source on record; the DF40C-80DP-0.4V(51) mates with the matching DF40 series receptacle (the specific receptacle order code depends on your target stack height).
