The Hirose DF40HC(3.0)-100DS-0.4V(58) is a 100-position receptacle from the DF40 series, designed for board-to-board mezzanine stacking. It uses a 0.40mm pitch, two rows of gold-plated center strip contacts, and mates with the corresponding DF40 series header to achieve a 3mm mated stack height.

The 0.40mm pitch is the tightest in the DF40 series and drives the board layout: the PCB designer must route traces between pads with a 0.40mm centerline, which limits via size and trace width in the breakout region.
Position Count and Series Siblings
At 100 positions, this is the highest circuit-count member of the DF40HC(3.0) sub-family. For comparison, the DF40HC(3.0)-80DS-0.4V(58) carries 80 positions and the DF40HC(3.0)-70DS-0.4V(58) carries 70 positions, all at the same 0.40mm pitch and 3mm stack height. The position count is the selection driver: match the receptacle position count exactly to the header position count on the mating board — the footprint and routing density scale with the number of circuits.
