This is the dual-row version — two rows at 0.079" (2.00 mm) row spacing — giving you 30 positions in a footprint that stays narrow enough for dense cable routing. Typical applications include internal wiring in industrial control panels, office automation equipment, and consumer electronics where the harness needs a reliable disconnect point.
For 30 circuits in two rows, that works out to 15 positions per row, which keeps the connector body short enough to fit in a tight enclosure corner. Against the 28-position sibling DF51-28DS-2C, the difference is two circuits per row — same pitch, same dual-row layout, same housing material. The 30-position version fills a BOM line that needs exactly that circuit count; the 28-position is the choice when the harness drops two signals. Both use the same crimp terminals and mate with the same DF51 series pin headers, so the tooling and terminal inventory don't change.
The housing accepts the DF51 series female crimp contacts, which mate with the corresponding DF51 series pin headers. The free-hanging (in-line) mounting style means this receptacle sits on the wire harness end, not soldered to a board, so the harness builder crimps and inserts on the line.
