30-Position Micro-Coaxial Plug for Tight-Pitch Harnesses
The Hirose DF80D-30P-0.5SD(51) is a 30-position plug from the DF80 series, built for micro-coaxial and discrete-wire harnesses where board space is at a premium. Its 0.50 mm pitch packs the circuit density into a single-row footprint, and the free-hanging, in-line mounting lets it terminate directly to a cable assembly without a PCB header. The gold-plated outer shroud contacts and solder termination suit it for semi-permanent connections inside compact consumer electronics, medical devices, or portable equipment where reconnection cycles are low.
This plug accepts wire gauges from 32-36 AWG and 40-46 AWG — a dual range that covers both standard micro-coaxial and ultra-fine wire used in miniaturized assemblies. The solder termination requires a manual or reflow process; there is no crimp option, so the harness build must account for soldering each contact individually. The closed-end feature prevents the wire from pushing through the housing, which is a common issue when terminating very fine strands.
Plating and Mating Cycle Reality
The latch lock fastening type keeps the pair engaged against vibration once mated, but the gold thickness will wear if cycled frequently.
