Board Layout and Envelope Fit
The Hirose DM3C-SF is a Surface Mount, Right Angle microSD card connector from the DM3 series, designed for board-edge placement where the card inserts parallel to the PCB. The 10 (8 + 2) position layout provides 8 data lines plus 2 dedicated switch contacts for card detection — the switch is built into the connector body, so no separate detect switch is needed on the board.
Hinged Lid vs Push-Push: What the Insertion Method Means
The DM3C-SF uses a hinged lid for card insertion and removal — you lift the lid, drop the microSD card in, and close it. This contrasts with the push-in, push-out (push-push) mechanism on the DM3AT-SF-PEJM5(40) and DM3AT-SF-PEJM5(41) siblings, where the card is inserted and ejected by pressing it further in. The hinged lid gives a positive mechanical lock that is less likely to eject under shock, but requires manual lid operation. The DM3CS-SF is the closest functional alternative — same 0.072" (1.83 mm) height, same hinged lid, same 10 (8 + 2) position count and gold contacts — differing only in the package option (Digi-Reel® available on the DM3CS-SF).
The base product number is DM3C; the SF suffix denotes the hinged-lid variant with gold-plated contacts.
