DX-80-CV: 80-Position Shielded Backshell for Hirose DX Connectors
The Hirose DX-80-CV is a two-piece backshell and cover for 80-position Hirose DX series connectors. It terminates the cable-end shield with a full metal shell and provides a 180° cable exit.
What the 180° Cable Exit and Latch Lock Mean for the Build
The 180° cable exit routes the round cable straight out the rear of the connector. The latch lock is a positive mechanical catch on the backshell-to-connector interface.
Shielded Metal Shell Construction
The shell is metal — zinc alloy die-cast — with a silver-plated finish. The cover is a plastic (resin) piece that snaps over the cable entry to complete the enclosure. Silver plating on the shell gives a low-resistance ground path from the cable braid through the backshell to the connector's shield fingers. For a signal cable carrying high-frequency data or sensitive analog, that full metal envelope is what keeps common-mode noise off the line.
