Miniature High-Density Plug with Solder Eyelets
The Hirose DX40M-26P is a 26-position, 2-row plug from the DXM series of miniature high-density (HD) connectors.
Termination is via solder eyelet — each contact has a cup or eyelet that accepts a stripped, tinned wire end for hand or dip soldering. This is a field-serviceable joint: you can replace a single wire by desoldering and resoldering without replacing the contact. No crimp tool or die is required, but the wire gauge range is limited by the eyelet ID — the datasheet shows the acceptable AWG range for the solder cup. For a reliable joint, strip the wire to the correct length, tin the strands, and flow solder into the eyelet until it wicks fully around the conductor.
Mating and Cross-Reference
The DX40M-26P mates with the DX40M-26S receptacle (the 'S' suffix denotes the socket side). Both are 26-position, 2-row members of the same DXM series, so the position count and row arrangement match one-for-one. The DX40M-26P uses gold contacts; the DX40M-26S also carries gold contacts. No other manufacturer's part is listed as a direct equivalent — the DXM series is Hirose-specific, and the center strip contact arrangement is not a standard D-sub footprint. If you need a cross, the only provable alternative is the mating half within the same series.
The DX40M-26P has an Active lifecycle status with ROHS3 compliance confirmed on record. For regulatory filings, the ROHS3 statement is the only compliance claim on file — no UL, CSA, or VDE listing is cited in the available specs.
