High-Density Mezzanine Receptacle for Tight Stack Heights
The Hirose FX10A-80S/8-SV(91) is an 80-position receptacle from the FunctionMax™ FX10 series, designed for parallel board-to-board stacking. The 0.020" (0.50mm) pitch and 2-row layout pack 80 circuits into a compact footprint, with a height above board of 0.126" (3.20mm). It supports mated stacking heights of 4mm and 5mm, making it suitable for space-constrained mezzanine applications where board spacing is tight. The receptacle uses center strip contacts with gold plating (4.00µin thickness) on the mating interface, ensuring reliable signal integrity over repeated mating cycles.
The mated stacking heights of 4mm and 5mm are set by the choice of mating plug — the FX10 series includes matching headers with different post heights. For a 4mm stack, use the corresponding FX10 plug with the shorter post; for 5mm, the taller post version. Verify the plug's height code against your board-to-board z-height budget before committing the BOM. The 0.50mm pitch demands careful PCB routing — trace widths and spacing must accommodate the fine-pitch escape. The ground plate provides a low-inductance return path, which helps control crosstalk in high-speed digital links. The board guide assists optical alignment during hand-assembly or pick-and-place.
No direct equivalent from other manufacturers is on record; the mating half is a Hirose FX10 series header.
