The Hirose FX2-32P-1.27SV(71) is a 32-position plug from the FX2 series, built with center strip contacts arranged in 2 rows on a 1.27 mm pitch. The center strip contact geometry is distinct from a standard pin header: the contacts are arranged as a row of flat beam strips rather than individual round pins, which gives a lower profile and a controlled impedance path for signal lines. Typical applications are internal board-to-board links in compact electronic equipment — laptop mainboard-to-daughtercard, telecom line cards, or industrial controller stacks where the 32 circuits handle parallel data or control buses.
SMT Termination and Board Layout Fit
Termination is solder-only, surface mount, so the plug reflows onto the top side of the PCB alongside other SMT components. The 1.27 mm pitch is tighter than the legacy 2.54 mm pitch headers — it saves board real estate but demands a more precise footprint and solder paste stencil. The SMT tails are on the same 1.27 mm grid; the footprint must match the Hirose recommended land pattern to avoid skew during reflow.
This plug mates with the FX2 series receptacle of the same 32-position count and 1.27 mm pitch. The center strip contact arrangement means the receptacle has matching flat-beam contacts that wipe against the plug's strips. No other FX2 variant with a different position count or contact style will mate — the 32 circuits are fixed by the insert mold. The plug body is keyed by the housing geometry, so orientation is unambiguous during board stacking.
