Typical applications include mezzanine card interconnects in telecom line cards, server blade assemblies, and industrial control modules where signal density and board spacing must be matched precisely.
Pitch and Footprint: What the 0.60mm Spacing Means for Layout
The 0.60mm pitch is the critical dimension for the board layout engineer. At this spacing, trace routing between pads requires a controlled impedance stack-up and a fine-line PCB capability — standard 1oz copper with 0.2mm trace/space rules will fit, but the designer should verify the breakout channel width against the fab house's minimum. The two-row arrangement with 60 total positions means 30 contacts per row, and the SMT pads will sit on a 0.60mm grid with a row-to-row offset that the footprint drawing defines. The board guide feature adds two locating posts outside the contact array, which take up additional keep-out area — account for these in the component clearance zone.
Stack Height Range: Matching the Envelope
The FX8C-60S-SV5(92) supports five mated stacking heights: 10mm, 11mm, 12mm, 14mm, and 16mm. This range is achieved by pairing the receptacle with different plug variants in the FX8C series — the receptacle itself has a fixed 8.95mm height above board, and the plug's height determines the final stack. For a 10mm stack, the plug contributes about 1mm of height above its own board; for a 16mm stack, the plug is taller. The buyer must specify the mating plug's order code to lock in the stack height; the receptacle alone does not determine it. This flexibility lets a single receptacle BOM line serve multiple board-spacing configurations, as long as the plug is swapped per build.
