GT13SC-1/1P-R Retainer — Secondary Lock for GT13 Connector Housings
The Hirose GT13SC-1/1P-R is a retainer — a secondary locking component — designed for use with GT13 series connector housings. Its job is to sit inside the housing after the crimp terminals are inserted, locking them in place so vibration or cable strain doesn't back them out. That secondary lock is the difference between a harness that stays terminated and one that loses a circuit on the factory floor. The retainer is molded in gray Polybutylene Terephthalate (PBT), a thermoplastic that handles the typical under-hood and industrial cabinet temperature range without creeping or cracking.
What It Fits and How It Works
This retainer is specific to the GT13 housing family — it is not a universal part. You install it after the terminals are fully seated in the housing cavities. The retainer slides or snaps into a slot on the housing face, and its internal ramps press against the terminal lances, preventing them from deflecting if the wire is pulled.
