H.FL-R-SMT(01) — Hirose H.FL SMT Receptacle, 50 Ohm RF Interconnect
The Hirose H.FL-R-SMT(01) is a surface-mount receptacle from the H.FL series, a compact RF interconnect family designed for board-level coaxial connections where space is tight and signal integrity up to 3 GHz matters. This is the male-pin version — the receptacle accepts the mating plug's centre socket, so the pin is on the board side. Rated for 50 mating cycles, it uses a snap-on fastening — push to mate, pull to release — no threads, no tools. At 50 Ohms nominal impedance and a 3 GHz maximum frequency, this connector pairs with standard 50 Ohm microstrip or coplanar waveguide traces on the PCB. The gold centre contact keeps insertion loss stable across repeated mates, though the 50-cycle rating means it is not intended for frequent disconnect in field-service harnesses — it is a one-time or occasional-mate internal interconnect.
Mating and Footprint — What It Connects To
This receptacle mates with the H.FL series plug (the female cable-side connector). The snap-on fastening locks with a positive click — no coupling nut, no torque spec. The footprint is the standard H.FL SMT land pattern: a centre pad for the signal pin and a surrounding ground ring that solders to the PCB ground plane. The mating height for H.FL connectors is typically around 2.5 mm to 3.0 mm above the board, depending on the cable assembly, but the exact stack height is defined by the plug variant used. The 50 mating-cycle rating means the gold plating on the centre contact will wear after about 50 insertions — beyond that, contact resistance may rise. For a one-time board-to-cable interconnect inside an enclosure, that is fine. If the design requires frequent cable swaps, consider a higher-cycle-rated RF connector family.
Comparison — H.FL-R-SMT(01) vs H.FL-R-SMT(10)
The only difference between the H.FL-R-SMT(01) and the H.FL-R-SMT(10) is packaging: the (01) ships in bulk, the (10) ships in Tape & Reel (TR), Cut Tape (CT), and Digi-Reel®. All electrical and mechanical specs — 50 Ohms, 3 GHz, 50 mating cycles, gold centre contact, phosphor bronze body — are identical. Choose the (01) for hand-assembly or low-volume builds; choose the (10) for automated pick-and-place lines.
