12-Position Male Plug for Field-Terminated Cable Assemblies
The Hirose HR10A-10P-12P(73) is a 12-position male plug from the HR10A series, designed for free-hanging (in-line) cable connections. It uses a push-pull fastening system for quick mate/unmate without tools — the locking collar clicks into place and releases with a straight pull. The shell is zinc alloy with nickel finish, and the insert is polyamide (PA) nylon rated UL94 V-0.
Silver-Plated Contacts and Solder Cup Termination
Each of the 12 male pins uses brass contacts with a silver mating finish, plated to 78.7 µin (2.00 µm). Silver gives low contact resistance for signal circuits but tarnishes over time in sulphurous environments — this connector is best suited for clean, indoor, climate-controlled gear. The solder cup termination accepts stripped wire ends directly; no crimp tool needed, but each joint must be hand-soldered. The integrated backshell, cable clamp, and strain relief (listed features) secure the cable entry and prevent pull-out at the termination point.
2 A Signal-Level Rating and Voltage Limits
The voltage rating is 100 VAC or 140 VDC, which covers most low-voltage control and sensor circuits.
Position-Count and Plating Alternatives in the Same Shell
Within the same HR10A-10 shell, the 10-position sibling HR10A-10P-10P(73) uses the same silver-plated contacts and ratings but with two fewer circuits — a direct choice when the BOM calls for 10 positions instead of 12. For applications needing higher mating cycle life, the HR10A-10P-12P(74) is the gold-plated variant (8.00 µin gold over nickel) at the same 12-position count; gold resists corrosion better through repeated connect/disconnect cycles, while silver gives a lower-cost option for permanent or infrequent mating.
