Solder Cup Termination and Strain Relief
Termination is solder cup — you tin the wire, insert into the cup, and flow solder. No crimp tool needed, which makes this field-serviceable if you have an iron and heat shrink. The backshell includes a clamp and strain relief, so the cable jacket is gripped before the wires enter the solder cups; pull on the cable and the load goes into the shell, not the solder joints. The insert material is polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), a high-temp thermoplastic that holds up to soldering heat without deforming.
That thickness is standard for moderate mating-cycle duty — think 500 to 1000 cycles in a test-equipment or instrumentation harness where the connector gets unplugged a few times a week.

The HR25-7TP-8S(72) shares the same Shell Size 7 and all ratings with the 6-position HR25-7TP-6P(72) — same 1 A per contact, same 30VAC/42VDC, same threaded coupling and shielded shell. The difference is two extra circuits in the same shell diameter. If your BOM calls for 8 signal lines, the 6-position plug leaves two wires unterminated; the 8-position fills the shell. The 6-position male-pin variant exists if you need pins instead of sockets on the plug side, but the shell and keying are identical.
Plug vs Jack — Mating Half Clarified
This is a plug with female sockets. The mating half is the HR25-7TJ-8S(72) — a jack with female sockets, same 8 positions, same shell size 7. The threaded coupling nut on the plug engages the jack's thread; the keyed orientation prevents misalignment. Both sides carry gold-plated phosphor bronze contacts and the same 1 A/30VAC rating. If you need a male-pin jack, that variant exists in the series but is not this part.
