The connector is specced for RG-55 and 142B cable groups. The centre conductor solders into the brass pin with gold plating; the shield crimps onto the stainless steel body. The included heat shrink slides over the crimp barrel and shrinks down to seal the termination — no separate boot or tape needed. The 1000-cycle mating life comes from the gold-on-brass centre contact and the threaded stainless coupling nut; the threads don't gall the way aluminium does on a test-bench cable that gets cycled daily.
What the 12.4 GHz and 50 Ohm ratings mean for your signal path
The 12.4 GHz max frequency is the upper end of the usable band; Hirose rates the insertion loss at 0.1 dB, which holds across the band up to that ceiling. Above 12.4 GHz the VSWR climbs and the connector stops being a 50 Ohm transmission line — the PTFE dielectric and the geometry of the pin-to-body gap are tuned for that bandwidth.
