50 Ohm SMA Plug for RG-142B — 12.4 GHz Band
The Hirose HRM-202(40) is an SMA plug, male pin, built for RG-142B cable — a double-shielded, PTFE-dielectric coax that holds up in high-temperature and high-reliability environments. Rated at 50 Ohms impedance and specified to 12.4 GHz maximum frequency, it covers the L through X bands with an insertion loss of just 0.1 dB. That loss figure is tight enough for sensitive receive paths or precision test setups where every tenth of a dB matters.
Cable Prep and Termination Sequence
This plug terminates to RG-142B with a solder centre contact and a crimped shield termination. The PTFE dielectric requires clean, square cuts — any nick in the dielectric or braid will shift the impedance at the launch. Threaded fastening gives a positive mechanical lock.
