SMA Gender-Changer for the Bench
The Hirose HRMP(PO)-HRMJ is a straight SMA-to-SMA adapter that converts an SMA jack (female socket on the body) to an SMA plug (male pin on the body). It is a same-series adapter — both ends are SMA, so it does not cross to another interface. The center conductor transitions from female to male, making it the piece you reach for when your cable ends in a jack and the instrument port expects a plug. The body is stainless steel, the dielectric is PTFE, and the center contacts are beryllium copper with gold plating. Rated for 1000 mating cycles at 50 Ohms up to 18 GHz, it handles repeated connect-disconnect in test setups or field-swap scenarios without the contact wear you'd see on a lower-cycle adapter.
What the 18 GHz and 1000 Cycles Mean on the Bench
The 18 GHz frequency ceiling is the point where the VSWR starts climbing — stay under that for a clean launch. The 1000-cycle rating is double what many SMA adapters carry; the gold-over-beryllium copper contacts handle the wipe without fretting.
