Product details

The Hirose HSC-A3-D1(21) is a simplex SC-to-SC fiber optic coupler from the HSC series, designed for panel-mount applications where a clean, repeatable optical connection between two SC-terminated patch cables or pigtails is needed. Both adapter ends are SC receptacles, so it acts as a straight-through inline splice point — no hybrid conversion. The zirconia ferrule provides the precise alignment required for single-mode and multimode links, with a typical insertion loss well under 0.5 dB (manufacturer spec). The housing is synthetic resin with a snap-in flange mount, so it locks into a rectangular panel cutout without extra hardware. A dust cap is included to protect the ferrule end-face when the port is unmated.

Mounting and Environmental Range

Mounts via panel mount with flange and snap-in retention — push it into the cutout until the latches engage. No screws or nuts needed, which speeds field installation. Not rated for outdoor or washdown environments without additional enclosure protection.

Frequently asked questions

Is HSC-A3-D1(21) compatible with single mode fiber?

Yes, the zirconia ferrule and SC receptacle interface are standard for single-mode fiber alignment. The coupler itself is passive — it aligns the ferrules of two SC connectors; the fiber type (single-mode or multimode) depends on the patch cables plugged in. For single-mode, use UPC or APC polish SC connectors as appropriate.
