The Hirose MMCX-LP-088(40) is a 50 Ohm MMCX plug with a male pin contact, built for snap-on mating in RF signal paths up to 6 GHz. It terminates with solder on the centre contact and a crimp on the shield — the standard field-termination method for flexible coax like RG174 or similar small-diameter cables.
The 6 GHz frequency ceiling means it covers common cellular, Wi-Fi, GPS, and ISM bands; beyond that the VSWR starts to climb and the insertion loss eats into your link budget. 500 mating cycles is the rated reconnect life — fine for production test fixtures or field-swappable modules where you mate and unmate a few hundred times, but not for daily hot-swap duty. The gold body and gold centre contact plating resist corrosion and maintain low contact resistance over those cycles.
The right-angle exit means the cable bends 90° right at the connector body — plan your cable bend radius so you don't stress the solder joint or deform the dielectric. The PTFE dielectric material handles the solder heat without melting or shifting, which keeps the impedance consistent through the termination zone.
