Product details

Coaxial Switch for RF Signal Routing

The Hirose MS-156HF(02) is a 50 Ohm coaxial switch receptacle in the MS-156HF series, designed for RF signal routing up to 6 GHz. It is a single-port, female socket connector with a snap-on fastening mechanism that mates with 4 mm diameter coaxial plugs. The internal switch feature allows signal path selection without an external relay, making it suitable for antenna switching, test port isolation, or mode selection in wireless modules. Built for surface-mount assembly, the gold-plated phosphor bronze body and beryllium copper centre contact with gold plating ensure low and stable contact resistance over 100 mating cycles.

RF Performance and Signal Integrity

With a maximum frequency of 6 GHz and insertion loss of 0.15 dB, this connector adds negligible signal degradation in the sub-6 GHz bands used by Wi-Fi, cellular, and ISM applications. The 50 Ohm impedance matches standard RF system design, so no impedance compensation is needed at the board launch. The 100 mating cycle rating is typical for a coaxial switch — adequate for field service and test access, but not intended for high-cycle production switching where a mechanical relay would be used.

Assembly and Termination

Surface-mount termination with solder shield termination and solder contact termination. The pick-and-place cap (noted in features) supports automated assembly. Supplied in Tape & Reel packaging for reel-fed placement.
