What this PL71 coax plug is for
The Hirose PL71-P-1.5CW(40) is a 75 Ohm coaxial plug, male pin, designed for the 1.5CQEW.CW cable group. It is a snap-on fastening type — push to mate, pull to release — rated to 1 GHz maximum frequency. The 75 Ohm impedance targets video, CCTV, and broadband signal paths where a 50 Ohm connector would create a mismatch. Gold plating on the centre contact and nickel body finish give it corrosion resistance for field-installed runs. The assembly includes the connector body and a heat shrink tube for strain relief over the cable jacket.
This plug is built specifically for 1.5CQEW.CW cable — the centre conductor solders to the brass pin, and the braid crimps to the nickel-plated brass body. The included heat shrink covers the crimp zone and seals the cable entry. Solder the centre pin, crimp the shield, shrink the tube — that is the full assembly sequence. It is not a universal-fit coax plug; the cable diameter and dielectric match must be correct for the crimp to grip the braid and for the impedance to stay at 75 Ohm through the transition.
