The Hirose ST40X-24S-CV1(30) is the 24-position shielded plug in the ST series, built for in-line termination of discrete wires in tight, EMI-sensitive cable assemblies. The 0.020" (0.50mm) pitch packs 24 circuits into a single row, which means the solder pads on the mating board or flex must be laid out at that fine centerline — no room for routing wider traces between contacts. The shielded metal shell around the plug body attenuates radiated noise, making this a fit for signal runs near motors, switching power supplies, or display interfaces where a standard unshielded header would pick up interference.
Gold Plating and Termination — What Drives the Duty
For a harness that sees occasional reconnections during field service, the gold layer is adequate; for a high-cycle robotic arm or frequent swap-out, a thicker gold contact would be the better call. Termination is solder-only — each discrete wire is soldered directly to the contact tail, which gives a gas-tight joint but locks the assembly to a specific wire length and gauge. The non-gender-specific contact type means the plug uses identical contacts for both signal and ground paths, simplifying the crimp/solder inventory on the build bench.
