6p4c RJ11/RJ14 Modular Plug for 26 AWG Flat Oval Cable
The Hirose TM3P-64P is a 6-position, 4-contact (6p4c) modular plug from the TM-P series, wired for RJ11 or RJ14 applications. It terminates 26 AWG flat oval stranded cable via an IDC (insulation displacement contact) slot — no wire stripping needed, the contacts pierce the insulation on insertion. The translucent clear polycarbonate housing lets you verify conductor seating through the body. Gold-plated phosphor bronze contacts handle the signal path, rated 500 mA per circuit at 125 V.
Position Count — 6p4c vs 6p6c Siblings
The TM3P-64P carries 6 positions with 4 contacts populated, matching RJ11 (2-wire) and RJ14 (4-wire) wiring schemes. The sibling TM3P-66P uses the same body and 0.528" (13.40 mm) length but populates all 6 contacts (6p6c), supporting RJ12 and RJ25 as well. The TM3P-44P (4p4c) is a physically shorter body for 4-position jacks and won't latch into a 6-position RJ11 port.
IDC Termination — Wire Gauge and Cable Type
The IDC slot accepts 26 AWG flat oval cable with stranded conductors. The translucent housing allows visual inspection of the conductor entry into the contact slot — useful for production QC. The plug is unshielded; for shielded cable runs, the TM4P series (round cable compatible) is a different body style and won't share tooling.
