Vertical 4p4c Modular Jack for Handset-Style Connections
The Hirose TM3RA-44(50) is a 4p4c (RJ9, RJ10, RJ22) modular jack from the TM-DSA series, terminated vertically through the PCB with solder tails. The 4-position, 4-conductor contact arrangement carries two twisted pairs — the standard pinout for telephone handsets, headsets, and some intercom or test-equipment cables. The user-selectable tab direction lets the locking latch face either side of the board, a detail that matters when the jack shares a panel cutout with other ports.
Board Lock Retention and Vertical Footprint
Board lock features on the through-hole solder tails anchor the jack against the insertion and extraction forces of a modular plug. Without the board lock, the solder joints alone take the full shear load each time a handset cord is yanked or a test lead is pulled — over hundreds of cycles the plated-through holes can crack.
