It is designed for free-hanging (in-line) RF coaxial cable termination, with a 50 Ohm impedance that sets the characteristic line impedance for signal path matching. The 3 GHz maximum frequency defines the usable bandwidth — above that, insertion loss and return loss degrade beyond the connector's design window. The connector is specified for cable groups 1.5D-2V, 1.5D-HQEV, and 1.5D-QEV, which means the cable jacket diameter and dielectric fit the crimp and solder termination geometry; using a different cable group risks poor shield termination or impedance mismatch.
Termination and Mating: Solder Contact, Crimp Shield, Snap-On Fastening
The centre contact is terminated by solder, while the shield is terminated by crimp. The fastening type is snap-on, which provides a positive tactile lock when mated — no threading or bayonet coupling. The connector ships as two pieces: one connector body and one heat shrink tube, which covers the crimp area for strain relief and environmental sealing.
Mating Cycle Life and Field Service
For a permanent installation, the cycle life is not a constraint; for a portable or frequently reconnected cable assembly, the 500-cycle rating sets a practical replacement interval.
