What This U.FL Plug Does in an RF Assembly
The Hirose UM-QP-1.5WCR3A(40) is a U.FL (UMCC) style plug, female socket, part of the UM series. It's a free-hanging, in-line connector with a snap-on fastening — the kind you push on until it clicks, no threads, no torque wrench. Rated for 50 Ohm impedance and 3 GHz maximum frequency, it's built for internal RF interconnects where board space is tight and the signal path needs a controlled impedance through a small coaxial cable. The kit includes the connector body and a heat shrink tube (2 pcs total) for strain relief and environmental sealing at the cable-to-connector junction.
This plug is designed for cable group 1.5D-2W, 1.5D-HQEW, 1.5QEW — those are the thin coaxial cables typical of internal antenna feeds in portable electronics.
