What This D-Sub Plug Does in the Assembly
The JAE DB-25PF-N is a 25-position D-sub plug with male pins, terminated via solder cup for free-hanging (in-line) cable assemblies. It uses a standard DB-25 shell layout (size 3, DB, B) and mates with any standard 25-position D-sub receptacle of the same shell size. The stamped copper alloy contacts carry a gold finish for corrosion resistance across repeated mating cycles, and the steel shell with nickel plating includes grounding indents and is fully shielded to manage EMI in signal-level interconnects.
Position Count and Shell Size — Matching the Mating Half
The DB-25PF-N uses the 3 (DB, B) shell layout, which is the standard 25-position D-sub footprint. The 2-row arrangement with 25 pins means the mating receptacle must also be a DB-25 shell size.
Shielding and Grounding for Signal Integrity
The steel, nickel-plated shell with grounding indents provides the shield path for the cable assembly. When mated with a receptacle that has matching grounding indents or a metal shell, the shield current bleeds through the shell interface before reaching the signal pins.
Solder cup termination accepts 20 AWG wire. The housing/shell has unthreaded flanges, so a separate backshell with jackscrews is needed for panel-mount applications.
