What it is — series and position count
The B7P-VH-B is the 7-position member of JST's VH series — a single-row, board-to-cable shrouded header with a 0.156-inch (3.96 mm) pitch, rated 10 A per circuit at 250 V. Tin-plated brass contacts on both the mating face and the solder tail eliminate the gold-plating premium for a connector whose primary selection driver is current capacity, not signal integrity or mating cycle count.
Board fit — pitch, mounting, and stack height
Through-hole solder termination with a post length of 0.146 inch (3.70 mm). The 0.156-inch (3.96 mm) pitch, 0.370-inch (9.40 mm) insulation height, and 0.575-inch (14.60 mm) overall contact length define the keep-out envelope.
Shrouding and locking — what it locks into
The single-wall shroud and locking ramp are designed to mate with the matching VH-series plug housing — the ramp mechanically locks the housing in place after insertion, which matters for wire harness applications where vibration or cable pull can unseal a friction-fit pair. All 7 positions are loaded. The housing material is polybutylene terephthalate glass-filled (PBT GF), rated UL94 V-0 — the flammability rating meets most panel and appliance interior requirements without a special-order variant.
Sourcing and lifecycle
The B6P-VH-B is the 6-circuit sibling at identical pitch (3.96 mm), current (10 A), and voltage (250 V) — if the circuit count is the only variable driving the BOM line, the 6- and 7-position variants are drop-in alternates with the same board footprint pitch.
