What it is and where it fits
The B8P-VH(LF)(SN) is JST's 8-circuit member of the VH series — a single-row, 0.156-inch (3.96 mm) pitch shrouded header rated 10 A per circuit at 250 V. The locking ramp on the shroud engages the matching VH plug housing and holds it against harness vibration. Tin-plated brass contacts mate with the corresponding tin-plated receptacle; the 16.5 mm mated stack height is consistent across the full VH family, so board-to-board dimensioning holds regardless of position count. VH headers at this pitch and current rating are a staple in industrial automation — motor drive harnesses, PLC I/O blocks, and actuator distributors where the 10 A per circuit headroom handles both signal and low-level power without upsizing to a dedicated power connector. The UL94 V-0 rated PA66 housing survives the thermal environment at the drive cabinet bulkhead. This is a board-to-cable header — the through-hole solder tails are designed to accept the board-side footprint; the matching VH plug housing carries the wire-side terminals. Confirm the wire gauge and crimp terminal are rated for the same 10 A duty before specifying the mating half.
Key ratings and what they mean
How it compares to its series siblings
B9P-VH carries 9 positions at the same 3.96 mm pitch, 10 A, and 250 V — identical materials, shrouding, and locking ramp. B7P-VH (both plain and LF(SN) variants) is the 7-circuit version with the same spec sheet. The only selection delta between the three is circuit count: 7, 8, or 9 positions. If the BOM calls for 8 circuits, the B8P-VH(LF)(SN) is the direct fit — the footprint lands on the same 3.96 mm grid as the 7- and 9-position variants, so a layout can be bumped to a higher-count sibling without a respin if the application grows.
