SUR series 2-position IDC receptacle for 32 AWG discrete wire
The JST SUR 02SUR-32S is a 2-position, single-row receptacle in the SUR series, terminated via IDC to 32 AWG discrete wire. Tin-plated female sockets handle the signal duty in a free-hanging, in-line mount — no board lock, no extra hardware. The natural-colored housing carries a closed-end feature, which blocks the last cavity, so you cannot accidentally insert a contact into a dead position.
Position count and pitch — what fits the BOM
At 2 positions, this is the smallest member of the SUR series by circuit count. The 0.031" (0.80mm) pitch is shared across the family, so the footprint is consistent whether you use the 2-position 02SUR-32S, the 3-position 03SUR-32S, or the 4-position 04SUR-32S — only the cavity count changes. If your BOM calls for a 2-circuit discrete wire connection at 0.80mm pitch, this is the receptacle that matches.
IDC termination — tooling and wire gauge
The IDC termination is designed for 32 AWG discrete wire — the insulation displacement slot is sized for that gauge. Using 30 AWG wire would be thicker than the slot's intended range, risking a poor or incomplete connection. Stick with 32 AWG as specified. No crimp tool needed; a simple IDC press tool or hand pliers with the correct die seats the wire in one step.
Mating half — what it connects to
The header is a separate order — the 02SUR-32S is the female side only. Stock both halves or you end up with an orphan plug on the shelf. The 0.80mm pitch and 2-position count are the key alignment parameters; confirm the header's pin length and orientation (straight or right-angle) match your board layout.
