2-Position 0.60mm Pitch IDC Receptacle for 36 AWG Wire
The JST XSR 02XSR-36S is a 2-position receptacle in the XSR series, designed for mass-termination of discrete 36 AWG wire via IDC (Insulation Displacement Connection). At a 0.024" (0.60mm) pitch, this is a fine-pitch connector suited for high-density harnesses in compact consumer electronics, battery packs, and sensor modules where board space is at a premium. The single-row, natural-colored housing accepts tin-plated female socket contacts pre-loaded in the IDC slot, and the closed-end design with integral strain relief protects the termination point from pull forces.
IDC Termination for 36 AWG — Tooling Required
This works specifically with 36 AWG discrete wire; the slot geometry is sized for that gauge, so using a different wire size risks an open or intermittent connection. JST recommends a hand-held IDC press tool (typically the JST XSR series tool, such as the WC-XSR or equivalent) to seat the wire fully into the contact slot. The housing also features a closed end and strain relief, which clamp the wire jacket after termination to take tension off the IDC joint.
