Product details

The JST SR series 05SR-3S is a 5-position receptacle that terminates 30 AWG discrete wire via IDC — no crimp tool, no loose contacts. The natural nylon housing carries a closed end, which blocks a male pin from entering the back of the connector during assembly.

This is an IDC (insulation displacement) connector for 30 AWG discrete wire only — the slot width is sized for that gauge, and no other wire size will seat correctly. The tin-plated female socket contacts wipe the insulation off during termination, so the wire must be solid or stranded with a tight strand count. No special tool is required beyond a simple press; the IDC slot cuts through the insulation and grips the conductor in one step.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 05SR-3S pin compatible with 30 AWG discrete wire?

Yes, the 05SR-3S is designed specifically for 30 AWG discrete wire via IDC termination. The insulation displacement slot is sized for that gauge only — no other wire size will terminate correctly.

Does 05SR-3S have a keying or polarization feature?

The closed-end feature on the housing prevents a male pin from being inserted from the back side, which acts as a polarization guide during assembly. The SR series also uses a keyed housing profile that mates only with the matching pin header in the correct orientation.
