The JST 08SR-3S is an 8-position receptacle from the SR series, terminated via IDC to discrete 30 AWG wire. The natural (unpigmented) nylon housing with closed end means the IDC tooling seats the wires against a positive stop, so you don't push them through the back. Tin-plated female socket contacts are standard for this series; they handle the mating cycles of an internal or low-service harness without the cost of gold.
Wiring It — IDC Termination on 30 AWG
IDC termination skips the crimp — the wire is pressed into insulation-displacement slots inside the housing. That saves assembly time, but it's wire-gauge-specific: this receptacle is built for 30 AWG discrete wire. Use a different gauge and the IDC slots won't bite correctly. The free-hanging (in-line) mount means the terminated harness plugs directly into a matching pin header on the board. No strain relief is built into the housing, so plan for a cable tie or clamp near the connector if the harness sees flex.
The female socket contacts accept the header pins. The 08SR-3S is not compatible with the JST SH series — SH uses a different pitch and contact geometry.
