The JST 09KR-D6S-P is a 9-position IDC socket from the KRD series, designed for discrete 26 AWG wire. It terminates the cable by pressing the conductor into the slot — no crimp tool needed, which simplifies harness assembly for low-to-medium volume builds.
Termination and Wire Gauge Constraint
The IDC termination is designed for 26 AWG discrete wire only. Using a different gauge will not seat correctly in the slot — the insulation displacement blades are sized for that specific conductor diameter. The tin-plated female socket contacts are rated for low-cycle applications; if the harness sees frequent disconnect/reconnect, consider a gold-plated alternative in the same pitch class.
