The 2.00 mm pitch gives a compact wire-to-board interconnect for signal-level circuits — think control harnesses, sensor leads, and internal appliance wiring where the board footprint needs to stay tight. Tin-plated contacts keep the per-unit cost down for assemblies that mate once and stay mated; the gray housing is the standard KR series colour.
IDC termination means the wire insulation is punched through by the contact tines during assembly; no crimp tool, no separate terminal, just the wire and the connector body. That saves a step in harness production, but it also means the wire gauge is non-negotiable: the IDC slot is sized for 26 AWG discrete wire, and only 26 AWG.
