IDC Receptacle for Fine-Gauge Wire Harnesses
The JST 12ZR-3H-P is a 12-position, single-row IDC receptacle from the ZR series, designed for mass-termination of 30 AWG discrete wire without stripping or crimping. The 0.059" (1.50 mm) pitch keeps the board footprint tight — each position lands on 1.50 mm centers, which is the dimension that governs the PCB layout when mating with the matching pin header. Tin-plated female socket contacts handle the signal path; the closed-end housing prevents wire from pushing through the back of the connector during assembly, a detail that saves rework time on the harness bench.
Termination and Wire Preparation
Cable termination is IDC — insulation displacement, no crimp tool for individual contacts. The wire gauge is locked to 30 AWG; the IDC slot geometry is sized for that diameter, so substituting a different gauge risks an open or intermittent connection. Free-hanging (in-line) mounting means this receptacle sits in the harness, not on the board — it mates with a through-hole or SMT pin header on the PCB. The closed-end feature acts as a wire stop, so the assembler gets positive feedback when the conductor is fully seated.
