12-Position IDC Receptacle for 28 AWG Discrete Wire
The JST 12ZR-8M-P is a 12-position receptacle in the ZR series, terminated via IDC to 28 AWG discrete wire. The 1.50 mm pitch matches the ZR-series pin header footprint — the same pitch runs across the whole family, so any ZR header with the same position count mates directly. The green housing is a closed-end design, meaning the IDC contacts are fully enclosed on the wire-entry side, which protects the termination point from accidental shorting or debris.
IDC Termination — One Gauge, One Tool
The cable termination is IDC, which means the wire is pressed into insulation-displacement slots rather than stripped and crimped. This is a mass-termination process — a single press stroke terminates all 12 positions simultaneously. The trade-off is that the slot geometry is fixed for 28 AWG only; you cannot run a different wire gauge through this housing.
