13-Position IDC Receptacle for 30 AWG Ribbon Cable
The JST 13ZR-3H-P is a 13-position, single-row IDC receptacle from the ZR series, designed for mass-terminating 30 AWG discrete wire to a 0.059" (1.50mm) pitch header. The natural-colored housing accepts female socket contacts pre-loaded into the connector body — no separate crimp terminal is needed. The closed-end feature blocks the last cavity, preventing a wire from being pushed into a non-existent position during assembly, a common mistake on multi-position IDC connectors.
Cable termination is by insulation displacement (IDC), which means the 30 AWG wire is pressed into a slot in the contact that slices through the insulation and grips the conductor. No wire stripping or crimping is needed — a simple press tool or arbor press seats the wire. The trade-off is that the wire gauge is fixed: only 30 AWG is specified, so a different gauge will not terminate reliably or may damage the contact slot.
Tin-Plated Contacts for Cost-Sensitive Signal Duty
The female socket contacts are finished with tin plating. For applications requiring repeated mating cycles or exposure to corrosive atmospheres, a gold-plated variant in the ZR series would be the correct choice.
