The JST 14SUR-32S is a 14-circuit receptacle from the SUR series, terminated via IDC to discrete 32 AWG wire. The natural-colored housing includes a closed end, which physically blocks the wire from pushing through the back of the connector during assembly — a practical detail when terminating individual wires rather than ribbon cable. The SUR series is JST's compact IDC interconnect for fine-gauge discrete wiring, typically used in tight internal harnesses for consumer electronics, sensors, and control boards where space is limited and the wire count is moderate.
At 32 AWG, the wire itself is fine enough to fit the IDC slot without forcing the insulation, but the closed end is what prevents a mis-terminated wire from exiting the housing. The single-row layout and 14 positions give a direct 1:1 circuit count match for a 14-conductor harness. Tin contacts are standard for this series, suited for low-cycle, low-cost internal connections where gold's mating-cycle advantage is not needed.
This receptacle mates with JST SUR series male pin headers (sold separately). No stripping or crimping is required, but the tooling must match the 0.80 mm pitch and the wire gauge. The free-hanging mount means the connector is wired into the harness and then mated to a board-mounted header, not soldered to a PCB.
