15-Position IDC Receptacle for Discrete Wire Harnesses
The JST 15HR-4K is a 15-position IDC receptacle in the HR series, designed for terminating discrete 24 AWG wire without crimping. The 0.098" (2.50mm) pitch keeps the housing compact for a 15-circuit harness, and the single-row layout suits cable-to-board or inline splice applications where board space is at a premium. The detent lock provides positive retention against the mating header — it clicks home and holds without a secondary latch, which matters in assemblies that see routine vibration during transport or fan operation.
This eliminates the per-wire crimp step and the associated tooling — useful for low-to-medium volume builds where a crimp press isn't justified. The trade-off is that IDC is a one-shot termination: once the wire is seated, it's not meant to be re-terminated on the same contact. The closed-end feature blocks the back of the housing, so wires cannot push through during insertion.
Free-hanging (in-line) mounting means the receptacle floats in the harness; it's not panel-mounted, so the cable strain relief is handled by the wire itself or an external tie-down point near the connector.
