IDC Socket for 26 AWG Discrete Wire, 15 Circuits
The JST 15KR-6H-P is a 15-position IDC socket from the KR series, terminated to 26 AWG discrete wire. The gray housing is free-hanging (in-line) and accepts discrete wire — no ribbon cable. This is the socket half of the KR wire-to-board system, typically mated with a pin header on the PCB.
IDC Termination — Tooling and Wire Prep
This works with 26 AWG discrete wire only — the slot geometry is sized for that gauge. No stripping or crimping is needed, but you do need a hand press or arbor press with the correct KR-series IDC die. The wire should be laid into the slot straight; a skewed insertion can nick the conductor and raise contact resistance.
Tin Contacts — Mating Cycle Expectation
The contacts are tin-plated, not gold. If this connector sees frequent disconnects in the field or lives in a corrosive atmosphere, gold would be the better call, but the KR series offers tin as the standard finish. The contact resistance stays stable as long as the tin surface is not fretted by vibration; for a fixed installation it is reliable.
