It uses a 0.156" (3.96 mm) pitch — wide enough to handle the 600 V rating and 5 A per contact without forcing a cramped board layout. Tin is a cost-effective choice for fixed installations with limited mating cycles — it's not gold, so don't spec this where you need hundreds of insertions, but for a one-time harness build or an infrequently serviced panel it's perfectly adequate. The contact base material is phosphor bronze. The housing is natural polyester rated UL94 V-0, with a locking ramp for positive retention against vibration — useful in automotive under-hood or industrial cabinet environments where the connector sees some shock.
Board hooks on the housing add mechanical retention during soldering and resist shear from cable strain. The contact shape is square, standard for KK396 crimp terminals.
Mating and Compatibility
Mates with the matching KK396 male header (0.156" pitch, single row) using the locking ramp for retention. All 6 positions are loaded — no dummy positions. The receptacle accepts the standard KK396 crimp terminal for wire-to-board builds, or can be soldered directly for board-to-board use.
